Inside a Cosy Contemporary Airbnb in Goodwood

Curious how an Adelaide home became a beautifully guest-ready Airbnb?

Let me walk you through one of my latest design projects — a full transformation of a two-bedroom Goodwood property into a warm, contemporary stay for visitors.

The Client’s Brief

My client, a private homeowner, came to me with a clear vision: she wanted to turn her long-term rental in Goodwood into boutique-style guest accommodation — the kind of place people would look forward to staying in.

The overall plan was to convert the home into two separate Airbnb spaces — a self-contained studio and a larger, two-bedroom stay. For this blog, we’re diving into the two-bedroom transformation — a full interior design and styling project that’s now ready to welcome guests with comfort and style.

The Design Direction

The first step was to carefully plan how this new two-bedroom space would function for short-term guests. We needed to consider:

  • How guests would arrive and settle in

  • Where luggage would go

  • What zones were needed to feel at home, even for just a few nights

The goal was to make it easy and intuitive — no awkward layouts, no wasted space.

Setting the Tone with Style

From our initial concept conversations, the design direction was clear: we were aiming for a cosy contemporary feel — warm, textural, inviting, and just elevated enough to feel special.

We began with mood boards and layouts, building a visual language of:

  • Warm timbers

  • Soft black accents

  • Layered neutral tones

This palette created a timeless foundation, while still leaving room for texture and personality through decor, lighting, and soft furnishings.

Furniture, Flow & Function

With the layout mapped and mood direction approved, we moved into furniture selection. The living and dining zones needed to feel open and connected — perfect for relaxing or entertaining — while the bedrooms were designed to be restful, simple and grounded.

Details like area rugs, cushions, side tables and lighting were selected not just for style, but for comfort and ease. We wanted guests to walk in and instantly exhale — no hunting for a power point or a comfy place to sit.

Curated Comfort Through Styling

This is where it all came together.

I sourced every styling detail: from linen and towels, to artwork, books, vases and shelf decor — each piece selected to feel cohesive with the overall design vision. No last-minute mismatched mugs or random accessories here. Everything has a place and a purpose.

A Home That Works for Guests

The final result? A spacious, welcoming Airbnb that feels more like a thoughtfully designed home than a rental. It’s got just the right mix of softness and sophistication — perfect for couples, families or friends visiting Adelaide.

While there’s also a self-contained studio on the same property (more on that in a future blog), this two-bedroom space stands on its own — a beautiful transformation.
