What’s a realistic budget for a living room refresh?

You might feel like you’d love to update parts or all of your living and dining spaces, but don’t know where to start.
For many people it’s working out a realistic budget that gets them unstuck before they even start. What is a realistic amount to budget for? Is it worth doing if I don’t have a lot to spend?
Let me help you answer the budget question so you know what to expect when the home improvement bug starts to bite. The easiest way to do this I’ve found is through basic, medium and high-end examples. These templates give ball park figures so at least you have an idea of where to start.

Let’s get started with the Basic look..
This look is pulled together using everyday more affordable retailers, and shows you what you can achieve when you are mindful of your colour palette and infuse lots of texture into your living space.
Let’s break down the cost of the Basic living room.
Now onto the mid-range look…
Here I’ve shown examples sourced from mid-range retailers mixed with a few more affordable choices. The budget for this look is more than double the first example, and really shows that when each piece costs a little more it all adds up in the end.
Here’s the Mid range living room, let’s look at the costings.
Finally, here’s the splurge with the High-end look…
Now for the most expensive template! The selections are using a mix of higher end retailers and more boutique suppliers to give a unique and bespoke look. This sort of look does cost, but you can expect quality that will last the test of time. The budget for this room is around four times that of the basic living room look and shows you what you can expect if you love these types of suppliers.
