How we achieved this look:
Functional Living Areas
This heritage family home in Strathalbyn has been carefully renovated to incorporate a large open-plan living space and kitchen, along with a seperate lounge complete with built-in cabinetry and wood burning heater. The open plan room was carefully space planned to include a large dining table overlooking the garden, space for plenty of comfortable lounge seating for this large family and a new ‘character-filled’ kitchen with farmhouse sink and custom made range hood.
Renovated Character Bathrooms
The existing single bathroom was renovated and updated to better suit the needs of this Strathalbyn family. The renovation included modifying a vintage cupboard into a feature vanity that becomes the focal piece as you enter the space. We also added an additional bathroom into what was a pokey, under utilised library. We decided to keep the exisiting mantle piece in the interior design to maintain one of the original features of this late 1800’s historic home.
Vintage Elements
The north star of this considered renovation was always the use of vintage pieces to add warmth and pay homage to the age of this historic property. Throughout all the bedrooms and living spaces we used a combination of colour, texture and vintage artworks and decor pieces to weave a cohesive thread of character and warmth that was both in keeping with my client’s personal style, and sensitive to the age of this beautiful Strathalbyn home.
